Porsche at the 2014 New York Auto Show
Porsche is bringing a comprehensive model line up to the 2014 New York International Auto Show. The Porsche Macan, 911 Targa, 918 Spyder and Panamera S E-Hybrid are just a few of the models that will be on display at the Jacob Javits Center on Level Three at booth 610.
Porsche 911 Targa
The Porsche 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S are the first to combine the classic Targa concept with state-of-the-art roof technology. Just like the legendary original 911 Targa, the new models feature the distinctive Targa bar, a movable front roof section and a wraparound rear window. But unlike the classic 911 Targa, the roof segment can open and close at the push of a button. The fully automatic roof system stows the Targa top behind the rear seat.
The 911 Targa 4 is powered by a horizontally opposed 3.4-liter 6-cylinder engine with 350 hp. Equipped with the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) and the Sport Chrono package, the 911 Targa 4 accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and is capable of a top track speed of 174 mph. The 911 Targa 4S delivers 400 hp from its 3.8-liter horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine; and is capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds when equipped with PDK and the Sport Chrono package. The Targa 4S is capable of reaching a top track speed of 184 mph when equipped with a manual transmission and 183 with PDK. The 911 Targa 4 will be priced from $101,600 while the 911 Targa 4S model is priced from $116,200. Both cars also have a destination charge of $995. Deliveries of the 911 Targa are scheduled to begin in summer 2014.
Porsche's fifth model line, the new Macan S and Macan Turbo, will arrive at U.S. dealers this summer and will become true sports cars in the rapidly growing segment of compact SUVs. The Macan S is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 340 hp and can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds. The 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 in the Macan Turbo produces 400 hp and makes the car sprint from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.
The Macan S will be priced from $49,900 while the Macan Turbo model is priced from $72,300. Both cars also have a destination charge of $995.
Porsche 918 Spyder
The 918 Spyder embodies the essence of the Porsche idea: it combines pedigree motor racing technology with excellent everyday utility, and maximum performance with minimum consumption. The task faced by the development team was to create the super sports car for the next decade with a highly efficient and powerful hybrid drive. With the 887 hp output of a super sports car, and the virtually silent propulsion of an electric vehicle, the 918 Spyder can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds.
Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid
The new Panamera S E-Hybrid improves upon the concept offered by the previous Panamera S Hybrid with a more powerful electric motor and a higher-performance battery that supplies more energy and is able be recharged from home or public vehicle charging stations. The electric drive produces 95 hp, more than double the power of the previous model's electric motor (47 hp). Electricity is stored in a newly developed lithium-ion battery, which at 9.4 kWh has increased capacity over the previous battery (1.7 kWh). Via the integrated onboard charging componentry and the standard Porsche Universal Charger (AC), the battery can reach full charge within approximately two and a half hours when connected to a 240V power source. The Panamera S E-hybrid is capable of accelerating from a standstill to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds on its way to a top track speed of 167 mph.
The Panamera S E-Hybrid M.S.R.P. is $99,000 and has a destination charge of $995.
