Porsche Cars North America Will Use Davisville As Port of Entry

First Vehicles Have Arrived

Atlanta, September 14, 2010 --- Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) announced that it is moving its port of operations from the Port of Baltimore to the Port of Davisville in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.

Porsche has already begun delivering its cars to the Davisville location, with the first shipment from Germany arriving earlier this week. On an annual basis, the port will serve as the entry point for some 11,000 Porsches that are bound for dealerships throughout the Northeast.

PCNA made the move from Baltimore for a variety of reasons, including the opportunity to better streamline its shipping operations with VW Transport, which already uses the Port of Davisville to bring in Volkswagen and Audi brand cars. Additionally, the move will allow Porsche to save money in federal harbor taxes and other operational costs.

"The Port of Davisville represents one of the country's top facilities," said Justin Newell, PCNA's manager of vehicle logistics. "From an efficiency standpoint, it is perhaps one of the best so-called roll-on-roll-off ports in the industry, and it exclusively handles automobile shipments."

Porsche's processing partner in Davisville is North Atlantic Distribution, Inc. (NORAD), which, according to Newell, is considered a benchmark in the business, employing the latest in state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and processes.

For trucking, Porsche will retain the same company it used in Baltimore: Accurate Auto Carriers.

Porsches other ports of entries are in Brunswick, Georgia, Houston, Texas and San Diego, California.
