Personal: Birthdate: 10/31/57 Birthplace: Hollywood, CA Hometown: Long Beach, CA Biography: Stanton is married to Joy. His dedication to physical fitness includes participation in 27 triathlons. He grew up in motocross and supercross. Career Highlights: 2007: Competed in five Rolex Series GT races, notching three top 10s. Finished third in KONI Challenge Series Grand Sport driver points, claiming three podiums to close the season. 2006: Made one Rolex Series start, finishing 22nd in GT class of Rolex 24 At Daytona. Made nine KONI Challenge Series starts with best finish of second at Mid-Ohio. 2005: Won the Rolex Series GT championship with 13 top-seven finishes. He had two second-place finishes (Mont-Tremblant, Barber). Finished second in the Grand-Am Cup season finale at VIR. 2004: Won the Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport (GS) championship with six class wins. Won Rolex Series SGS class at Miami and finished second at Phoenix. Finished second in the Porsche Cup. 2000: Competed in NASCAR Late Model Series and drove Trophy Truck-class entry in the SCORE Baja 2000. 1999: Competed in USRRC, driving a GT3 R Porsche for Reiser-Callas. Finished Rolex 24 At Daytona and placed third in class at 12 Hours of Sebring. 1998: Became team manager, race and test driver for GTI Racing, a Nissan factory team in Speedvision Cup. 1997: Earned Speedvision Cup Rising Star Award and a second in series' points with two wins. 1989: Competed in Formula Mazda and California Regional SCCA. 1986: Finished fourth in regional point standings in Sports Renault. Early Career: After a successful career in motocross/ super-cross, Stanton moved into auto racing in 1986. In his first year he finished fourth in regional championship points in Sports Renault. In his second season, he earned 22 wins, 17 pole positions in 49 races entered across five regions. In 1988, he entered 41 races, winning 29. 1989, Stanton moved on to Formula Mazda and competed in California regional SCCA sedan races winning a three-hour event in SSGT-class. In 1990, he continued to compete in open wheel joining USAC’s Formula 2000 Pro Series. From 1991-‘95, Stanton continued competing in both open wheel and sedan racing finishing as high as third in national points in the SSGT-class. He also raced a USAC Midget and won several California Region three hour endurance events.
