Alex Job Racing: 27 Years With Porsche

Motorsports is a "strike when the iron is hot" type of business. Teams often chase whatever car is the quickest at a given moment. While Porsche is always among the most competitive cars on the track, very often other manufacturers will provide deals that are hard for an owner to pass up making long-term relationships rare. Two notable exceptions are Porsche, who has been racing since the company's founding in 1948, and Alex Job Racing. 2016 is the Tavares, Florida-based race team's 27th-consecutive season racing at least one Porsche in North America.

The story of the team's success actually began more than 30 years ago. Team owner Alex Job spent 20 years in the retail automobile business, primarily with Porsche, before pursuing racing as a full time business. Job drove himself in the 1970s part time. He retired from driving in the late '70s but quickly took up ownership and car preparation. Since, he and his wife Holly have guided "AJR" on a course of success.

Alex Job Racing has earned 70 wins (since 1995) major sports car victories; including two Rolex 24 At Daytona GT Class wins in 1999 and 2013. The team has won five championships (GT in 2002 - 2004, and GTC 2012-2013) complimented by their two GT class wins at the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team also boasts ten Sebring 12-hour wins including last year's GTD class victory.

For this year's Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, Alex Job Racing will enter two Porsche 911 GT3 R racecars. In the No. 22 Alex Job Racing/WeatherTech entry, Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.), Leh Keen (Atlanta) and Gunnar Jeanette (Salt Lake City) will contest the race, while drivers in No. 23 Team Seattle/Alex Job Racing car will be Mario Farnbacher (Germany), and Alex Riberas (Spain).

Jens Walther, president and CEO, Porsche Motorsport North America: "From his experience in the automotive retail business to his success as a driver and mechanic, Alex has all the tools to run a productive motorsports operation, and his championships over the 27 years of Alex Job Racing have proven he can put that rubber to the road.  And we're proud that he continues to choose Porsche as his preferred marque."

Gomez Earns Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama Scholarship

19-year-old Victor Gomez IV (San Juan, Puerto Rico) has secured a full-season drive with NGT Motorsport in the 2016 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama. The opportunity comes in part through a scholarship from the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and supported by Porsche and Yokohama.

Gomez will make his series debut in the season-opening rounds on March 16-18 at Sebring International Raceway. He will be chasing the series' overall championship piloting a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in Platinum Cup class.

The IMSA Scholarship is awarded to a driver without prior Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge experience and is designed to attract and recognize new talent in one of the two IMSA-sanctioned North American GT3 Cup Challenge championships, the other being the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama. This scholarship represents a vital first step in building the necessary budget required to race in this highly competitive championship, one of 20 similar Porsche single-make series worldwide.

Gomez is climbing to the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama in 2016 after competing last season in the Pirelli World Challenge GT Cup championship, which also utilizes the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, finishing seventh in the standings as a rookie. He produced five top-five finishes, with a best result of third on the tricky street circuit at Long Beach, California.

Victor Gomez IV: "I want to thank IMSA, Porsche Motorsport North America, Yokohama and my family for giving me this opportunity. I feel very honored. I'm so excited to be joining this series, especially with NGT Motorsport, which has won this championship. I know I'm going to be in good hands. The 2016 season is going to be a huge learning experience. I cannot wait to get back to the track. I'll work hard and do the best I can."
