One vehicle that even the 2005
Porsche Cayenne Turbo can't beat in a race around the Nürburgring
is the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, the ultimate in road-legal sports
cars. Built from ultra light but ultra strong carbon fiber, aluminum,
magnesium and high-strength steel, the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT draws
its energy from a mid-mounted, 5.7-liter V10 engine that generates
an astounding 605 (SAE) horsepower. Race-bred suspension, ceramic
brakes and even a ceramic composite clutch help the driver maintain
control of a powertrain that can propel the Carrera GT to 62 mph
in less than four seconds on the way to a top track speed of 205
mph (330 km/h).
